Position Overview:
The Commissioning Project Manager (PM) will lead the commissioning process for a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility in Yuma County, Arizona. The role requires 100% on-site presence and involves a blend of project management and hands-on commissioning expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Commissioning Leadership:
- Oversee the end-to-end commissioning of the entire BESS facility, ensuring alignment with project specifications, timelines, and industry standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot commissioning-related issues to maintain project momentum.
- Team Management and Coordination:
- Lead and expand the commissioning team, offering mentorship and technical guidance to optimize daily operations.
- Collaborate with on-site engineers, contractors, and the broader commissioning team to ensure seamless workflow and clear communication.
- Develop and maintain commissioning schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are documented and reported in compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Interface regularly with the project director and lead supervisor, providing updates and actionable insights.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare and submit detailed reports, including test results, progress updates, and final commissioning documentation.
- Ensure all activities meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as the liaison between the commissioning team and external stakeholders, including utility providers, vendors, and clients.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of utility-scale BESS commissioning experience.
- Proven track record of successfully commissioning at least 3 complete BESS projects.
- Skills:
- In-depth understanding of BESS components, including power conversion systems (PCS), energy management systems (EMS), and battery modules.
- Strong project management capabilities, with a focus on commissioning activities.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with engineers and on-site teams.
- Education:
- Degree in engineering, project management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Other Requirements:
- Availability for full-time, on-site travel in Yuma County, Arizona.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
